  • Branding is one of many major decisions when you run your own business. It’s your opportunity to make a good first impression and build a community of people who love what you do. But getting started can feel overwhelming. There are a million options, so how do you decide what direction to take? Brand strategy takes the guesswork out of branding.

    Your strategy is like a roadmap for all your business decisions, from design to content creation to marketing. An effective strategy is the difference between constant analysis paralysis and confident decision-making.

    Branding is more than a logo. It’s a system of ideas, values, and personality that gets to the core of who you are and what you do. Your strategy defines the essence of your brand.

    The good news is, developing a brand strategy doesn’t have to feel like a heavy lift. It’s empowering and——well, actually kinda fun! It’s not about dry analytics and marketing lingo. It’s about asking the right questions and exploring who you are. It gets you to the big “why”.

  • Unlike faceless corporate brands, small businesses are defined by the devoted, passionate people who care deeply about their work——that’s you! You already have the pieces you need to build your brand, but chances are, they feel jumbled and difficult to put into action. That’s where brand strategy is your best friend.

    The first step is exploring you and your work. We’ll start with some basics, like going over details about what you do, your questions and goals, and discussing general brand fundamentals. After that, we dive into the nitty gritty details.

    We’ll treat your brand like it’s own mini universe. With the help of creative prompts and storytelling, we’ll brainstorm, organize your thoughts and ideas, and gather inspiration that sets a clear direction. All of this will come together into an intuitive, actionable strategy that meets you where you’re at. We’ll answer the big questions that define the unique essence of your brand:

    What do you do? What makes you unique?

    Why do you do it? What’s the vision and the meaning behind your work? Why does it matter?

    Who do you do it for? Who is your target audience? What’s important to them? What needs and challenges do they have?

    Where do you do it? What spaces will you occupy, online, in the world, and in people’s minds?

    How do you meet the needs of your target audience? What problems do you solve, and how do you solve them?

    After our workshop sessions, if my design style and process is aligned with your brand goals, we’ll move into visual identity design, where we work together to develop design assets for your brand. If not, we will discuss your next steps.

  • A brand strategy empowers you with what I describe as the Big C’s of Brand Strategy:

  • Brand strategy workshops are $400.

    This covers three virtual meetings. Each session is about two hours long. If you find you’d like more support, you can schedule follow-up sessions at $75/hr.

    Final Deliverable: a multipage PDF with detailed summaries of your brand strategy components. If you choose to continue working together on your brand identity design, this information will be bundled with your brand style guide.

    We’ll start with a brand strategy workshop to define your purpose, your brand essence, and what makes you, you! This lays the foundation for your creative direction.

    Next, we’ll focus on style. We’ll figure out what aesthetic choices best align with your values, message, and brand personality. Using prompts and moodboarding, we’ll transform your ideas and vision into a design game plan.

    With all that laid out, we’ll be ready to bring your brand to life through design. We’ll create everything you need to share your work: logos, type, colors, templates, and an easy to navigate style guide.

  • A unique identity gives you the visual language to bring your brand to life. In addition to your visual brand assets, you’ll come away with a brand that hits the Big C’s of Brand Identity (yep, I have C’s for this one too):

    Cohesion. A successful brand identity works like a mini-ecosystem, where each part works together harmoniously towards the same goals.

    Consistency. Whatever your strategy, whatever your style, a consistent brand presence is what demonstrates trustworthiness and reliability, and makes your brand recognizable. You’ll feel more in control and your audience will feel more connected to your brand.

    Communication. At the end of the day, the goal of a brand identity is to connect with people. From strategy to design, brand identity is all about what you want to say, and how to say it.

  • Brand identity design packages start at $2k.

    The base package covers all your basic design needs to get you started:

    ✽ Logo suite – primary logo, variations (based on primary logo specs), brand mark, and favicon

    ✽ Type selections – pairing of 1-3 typefaces/fonts

    ✽ Color palette

    ✽ Two basic collateral items – print or digital, depending on your needs (examples: business/loyalty card, slide deck templates, social media templates, icons)

    Final Deliverables:

    ✽ Logo files – vector and raster

    ✽ Collateral files – PDF for printable items, social templates uploaded to your Canva account, and all other digital collateral in appropriate file formats

    ✽ Brand and Style Guide – a multipage PDF document that includes brand strategy information and all design specs

  • Already have a brand, but looking to execute on some general design projects? I got you. I can do a la carte designs for print and digital collateral, like stationary, social media templates, flyers, PDFs, and slide decks.

  • Launching a product or promoting an event? I take commissions for packaging and merch design for small brands, bands, and organizations, too.

  • I’m passionate about supporting small business owners. I’m open to working with a diverse range of brands and I’m always learning. However, I do specialize in a few specific industries. I work primarily in the following areas:

  • A logo is important to have, but it’s just a piece of what makes up a brand. A logo has to express the bigger picture of the brand, which is rooted in strategy and a cohesive visual identity. Without these critical components, a logo is just an image. This is why I don’t offer logo design as a stand-alone service.

  • Every person and project is different. While I try to be as transparent as possible with my pricing and estimates, there are many variables that affect the final project cost. Throughout the course of a branding project, you may find you need more assets or revisions. Keep in mind the cost of things like font licensing, stock images, and subscription fees to platforms like Canva Pro.

  • Absolutely! This is a totally normal part of brand evolution. In some cases, it looks like a few teaks and updates to your designs and language, and sometimes it’s a full scale rebrand. If you’re not sure what you need, we can schedule a brand audit call to determine what scale of refresh serves you best.
