La Raíz
La Raíz is a boutique wine importer bringing natural wines from Spain to D.C., Baltimore, and New York City. They strive to bring to market wines that represent the land and the stories of the artisans that grow and produce them. With a focus on tradition and care for ecosystems, La Raíz is committed to curating products that are cultivated through regenerative farming practices, and highlighting the wines in their purest, most natural form possible.
THE PROJECT

La Raíz is an ode to tradition, land, and process. The founder, who spends months at a time working on-site with winemakers across Europe and the US, highlights wines which hold stories about their makers, the soil, the surrounding flora, and the craft that brings them to life. Our challenge was to reflect that reverence for centuries-old traditional methods, but create a brand that could hold its own in curated, contemporary, urban retail environments, often with a younger customer base, where more conventional visuals often fade into the background or feel irrelevant.
We knew we wanted visual elements that felt handmade, but that created exciting contrast with the stories behind the wines, bringing an edge to sophisticated product with lush histories. Rather than visuals that evoke legacy, the La Raíz is about connecting past and present. The brand highlights a playful, loose illustration style and custom type with lots of personality. The organic, raw illustrations hint at the natural without relying on the conventions of “natural” brands.
